The Journey of Third Stage Minerals

First Stage

Elemental minerals in the soil are solid inorganic substances that are naturally occurring. This is the first quantum stage.

Second Stage

Microorganisms digest and convert these minerals into waste products. They are the same minerals but they are now changed into the second quantum stage. These second stage minerals then mix with ground water.

Third Stage

The second stage minerals in the water are then assimilated by plants and used during the photosynthesis process. After photosynthesis, the minerals that remain are stored in the plants' leaves in the mineral's most bio-available form — the third quantum stage.

Third Stage into Peat

Over time, as a part of ancient swamps, the swamp plants (along with leaves containing the third stage minerals) created layers of peat, or partially decayed plant material.

Peat into Lignite

When peat was buried, layer upon layer, it created increasing pressure and temperature which caused the peat to compact and loose water. This coalification process created lignite, or "brown coal", around 65 million to 2.58 million years ago.
